In the Philippines, the total card payment value is projected to reach PHP 4.6 trillion by 2027, driven heavily by credit cards which account for nearly 65% of all card spending despite making up only 13% of point-of-sale and e-commerce transactions. This disproportionate spending volume is fueled by consumers routing high-ticket purchases through credit cards to maximize rewards and merchant discounts, a trend that is rapidly expanding as over 1.4 million Filipinos, 57% of whom are under the age of 35, have recently acquired their first cards.
